Typical

This morning, my partner cut a picture of the scan we had yesterday and put it in a little picture frame for me to take to the shop. That is so cute! I’ve phone my midwife to book my 15-16 week appointment so that is booked now for next week.

I have been overwhelmed by everyone’s good wishes. Thank you all so much! It feels great to tell people. I went to the forum again (http://www.babyandbump.com/pregnancy-first-trimester/) and posted the pictures of my scan so the mums can see them. We are having a good community there and it’s great to see what everyone is up to.

I have tried other forums such as Netmums, Bounty and Mumsnet but I can’t get friendly there, I don’t know why. The one I’m in has got people from all over the world so I suppose I feel better then and I like knowing what other cultures do in regards with pregnancy. Having said that now, I am curious, which forum did you use, if any?

Unfortunately, when I went to the loo today I started bleeding again! Typical! It is not as heavy as that Friday in Bath but it is still red blood. I am not sure what to do, I can’t keep on having scans everyday! Has anyone had so much bleeding or spotting as me? It feels like I should celebrate when I am NOT bleeding!

Everything was fine yesterday and nothing changed today so there shouldn’t be any reason for worrying. I think I’m going to take it as it comes from now on. If this becomes heavier and with cramp pains, then I will go to the Dr’s.

Oh, no!

I was very looking forward to meet my midwife for the first time but just the day before my appointment, I started bleeding! It was heavier than before, what looked like the beginning of my period. I’ve got scared obviously so I’ve phoned the Dr and they told me to advise my midwife the next day.

Luckily the bleeding became lighter by then but I still mentioned it to her. I also felt that my ovaries were swollen so I was a bit concerned. She immediately phoned the Early Pregnancy Unit at the Gloucester Hospital and sent me straight there for a scan.

I had to catch a taxi and get there in half an hour! I was alone as my partner was working and I didn’t want to scare him unnecessarily. Anyway, I’ve got to the Women Centre and waited, waited and waited for 2 hours!

They told me to drink fluids as I needed a full bladder for the scan. I was bursting by then but finally went for a scan. I was expecting the worst news to be honest.  The sonographer took what seemed ages and the monitor was not facing me so I couldn’t see anything. I was just praying for everything to be okay.

Then it happened, she turned the monitor to my side and said ‘this is your baby and that is the heartbeat. It seems like everything is okay, according to the measurements you should be 7 weeks today’. I was so relieved! I could almost cry! There is a 5 days difference with my dates but they said they will confirm the due date on my dating scan.

Then I’ve asked if there was just one baby as there are twins in my family but they said there is just one baby. I asked them to print me a picture and they looked at me as if I was crazy as it is so small and doesn’t even look like a baby yet! They did it but they’ve put the picture in an envelope and asked me not to show it outside in the waiting room as not everyone get good news. I felt overwhelmed with emotion.

I left the hospital shaking. My partner didn’t even know I was there! I’ve phoned him and he was so glad to hear the good news! I said my thanks to God internally and considered myself so lucky! I took a picture with my phone and e-mailed it to my family and my partner. Have a look at my little seed. I love it already!

Hopeful

The spotting stopped completely and I’m feeling much better. It’s week 6 now and I noticed that it was also week 6 on the Young Apprentice, on BBC1 on TV! Hahaha!! To be honest, I don’t know when we conceived. I didn’t keep track of it but it’s funny to think about it on those terms. Maybe we should call the baby Alan if it's a boy...

Anyway, my ticker changed to a sweet pea now. How cute! I’m putting on weight already (twins?) and feel very hungry still. Apparently, if you put on 10 kilos, that is okay or healthy. I haven’t used the scales yet, don’t even want to think about it but I’m noticing my clothes getting really tight. I’m just about getting away with wearing the same bras but if I laugh or something, I can feel them digging into my skin! I definitely need to buy some!

I’m not sure how I can hide this for another 6 more weeks. I’ll be meeting ex-colleagues soon and I don’t want them to think that I’m just fat for no reason! Anyway, we’ll see if they notice. Not sure if I’ll be driving on that day but I need to think of an excuse not to drink alcohol. Some women in the forum http://www.babyandbump.com/pregnancy-first-trimester/ are having the same problem with their Christmas Do’s. They are going to blame antibiotics, driving or just dieting before Christmas. I don’t know what to say. Did you use any other excuses?

This is the time when morning sickness is meant to start according to what I've read on www.netmums.com. Apparently, they call it 'morning sickness' although it can happen any time of the day of if you are very unlucky, then all day! What am I going to do if I get sick in the market? I can’t leave my stall unattended every time I need the loo! I think people will start being suspicious...

I had to tell the market’s office! I’ve sent them an e-mail and they were very cool about it. They promised not to tell anyone until I make it official. Only 2 people know about my pregnancy, that’s what I’m told so let’s see how long it last...

I have my first midwife appointment on the 7th December. They needed to know this because I am opening the shop late that day (wish me luck!).
