Some inside knowledge

As you know from my previous posts I am not being very focused on trying to conceive lately. To be honest, I am not even thinking about it which is good I suppose...

Anyway, we had a girlie night with some friends last night which was lovely. One of the girls is a midwife and another girl is pregnant so you can imagine what the conversations were like. It was difficult to avoid the subject but it was also so interesting! We've got to know great tips for lots of stuff.

Some of the things we talked about just to mention a few examples were: do you know what the best position to give birth is? What is good to use if you develop skin rushes? How is a baby delivered? Does every woman poo at childbirth? What's the best position to sleep in? How long can you breastfeed for? What is the breastmilk like? What happens if you have a low placenta at early stages of pregnancy? Do many men faint and why? What can you do to help labour? What things stimulate your breast milk?

So many questions and such amazing answers made me think how a woman's body is prepared for childbirth and that there shouldn't be anything to panic about. It is only natural and if animals can do it, then we can as well.

One of the things that always scared me was the thought of labour and the terrible pain but it is something that we need to go through if we want a baby at the end. If you are interested in any of the answers then I will tell you. Just leave me a comment. ;)

  1. Thankyou, I really enjoyed reading that, and I had my daughter standing up so I'm thinking that's the best position as gravity lends a hand x

  2. You are right, gravity is involved and helps a lot. Apparently, the best position is the same as when you go to the loo. Your body knows what to do in that position and as gross as it sounds, nature takes over, so to speak. :) x
